I’ve forgotten about the lure of Stonesthrow (the property my grandparents own on Gabriola Island, and where I am currently staying). When at Stonesthrow, all one wants to do is lay in the sun and read, occasionally munching on tortilla chips and drinking unusual fizzy concoctions like grapefruit mango cordial.

I spent a good portion of the day lounging in the tea house (see left) reading Miranda July. I’m not sure how I feel about her and her writing- but that is a story for another day.

Last night at dinner a local fisherman dropped by the house with fresh rockcod and prawns. I love the way the prawns look, all pink and delicate with bulging little  black beady eyes. Prawn softie, anyone?
